AGARTALA, July 18: After receiving no fruitful attempts from the Tripura Left government to end the IPFT’s indefinite strike within the given 48-hour ultimatum, the BJP gheraod Manik Sarkar’s official residence’ gherao on Tuesday .
“The ruling government has taken no action to end the stir. Today is the ninth day of their agitation. We will continue our gherao programme in front of the CM’s residence till the blockade is withdrawn,” a BJP leader said on Tuesday morning.
The BJP also appealed the IPFT for a joint movement against the Left government in the coming Assembly polls in 2018, and cautioned to part away if the IPFT don’t get ready to leave that their separate statehood demand.
” We promise to give state council to the indigenous people if we come to power. But we don’t support Tipraland demand,” Deodhar said.
” The left government , to hide its failure, tried to blame the Centre on the issue,” Deodhar added.
The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju would sit for a meeting with IPFT delegation today evening in New Delhi.
