AGARTALA, July 15, 2017: Aiming to grab the indigenous party votes prior to Assembly polls, BJP is now eyeing to bring indigenous political parties onto its fold.
Appealing the Tripura government to take required steps to withdraw IPFT’s indefinite movement blocking the National Highway-8 and railways by coming 48 hours, the BJP , on the other hand, appealed IPFT to leave the stir and join hands with them and fight together to dethrone the existing ruling Left government in the 2018 Assembly elections.
“The ruling government is sitting silent despite the fact that communication through the National Highway and railways are hampered due to the IPFT’s blockade movement. Today is the sixth day of their agitation. We demand the government to withdraw the stir to normalize communication by 48 hours, or else we would stir in front of Chief Minister’s official residence,” BJP state in-charge Sunil Deodhar said on Saturday evening.
Later, he appealed the IPFT to withdraw the movement and join hands with the BJP to fight jointly in the next Assembly polls, but cleared that the BJP would never go for any alliance with the party if they stick to their separate statehood demand.
” I appeal the IPFT leaders to join us to eradicate the Left government from power. We together would work for development of the indigenous community which the Left government failed to do in their long tenure. The BJP would never form alliance with IPFT if they keep their statehood demand in their condition list,” Deodhar said.
He also announced that the party would launch an agitation regarding allotment of land patta to the indigenous people in next two months.
Regarding IPFT’s meeting with Jitendra Singh- Minister of State for PMO, Deodhar said that the Centre did not give promise to fulfill their demand.
“IPFT leaders like CPM play double-standard role. In Delhi, they speak politely but when they are in their state, they change their voice. Though Jitendra Singhji met them , but didn’t promise anything about their separate statehood,”he said.
